Dr. Mark Garner
Dr. Mark Garner is the founder and CEO of Orchard Meadows Family Dental & Denture Clinic. He was voted Best Dentist in the Black Hills in 2022, 2023 and 2024, and is a member of the American Dental Association, the South Dakota Dental Association, the Black Hills District Dental Society, the American Association of Facial Esthetics, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He is also licensed to administer intravenous (IV) moderate sedation.
When he was 15 years old, Dr. Mark and his family moved to Rapid City, and he graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1993. After high school, Dr. Mark enlisted in the United States Air Force and spent six years serving our country. After his military service, Dr. Mark attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Dentistry, and in 2006 he graduated with his Doctor of Dental Science (DDS) degree, with high distinction. He was inducted in the national dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) — one of only four students in his graduating class.
Dr. Mark strongly believes in giving and serving the community. He was instrumental in bringing two charity organizations to Rapid City designed to give free dental services to those less fortunate and without access to care. Dentistry With Heart, which usually takes place in April or May, is one day a year set aside for the less fortunate to receive free dentistry, no questions asked. Freedom Day is a national effort specifically designed to serve our underserved Veterans who may not have access to regular dental care. Dr. Mark and his team have also been on mission trips to Costa Rica, providing free dental services to residents in dire need of care.
When not making an impact on his patients’ lives at the office, Dr. Mark loves traveling and camping in the Black Hills with his wife, Lindsey, and their eight children.
Dr. Tyler Juhlin
Dr. Juhlin grew up in Norfolk, Nebraska in the northeast part of the state. After high school he enrolled in the University of Nebraska and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, before entering the U of N Medical Center, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2021.
Based on his love of the great outdoors, Dr. Juhlin decided to make Rapid City and the Black Hills his new home following graduation. After meeting with Dr. Mark and the rest of the team, and seeing the upbeat, supportive environment around the clinic, he felt Orchard Meadows Family Dental & Denture Clinic was the best place to begin his dental career.
Dr. Juhlin’s current focus is providing general dentistry to all age groups. He is eager to continue learning how he can best serve his patients through the latest advancements and best treatment available. Future treatment areas include working with patients seeking implants and Invisalign treatment.
During his free time, Dr. Juhlin enjoys staying active through golf, tennis, working out, and hiking. He was recently introduced to hunting and fly fishing and the streams throughout the Black Hills. When it’s time to relax you can typically find Dr. Juhlin listening to music, playing video or board games, or taking in just about any sporting event you’d care to mention.
Dr. Katie Juhlin
Dr. Katie grew up in Papillion, Nebraska – just southwest of Omaha – and attended the University of Nebraska where she received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. She then went on to the U of N Medical Center (UNMC) College of Dentistry and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.
While enrolled at UNMC, Dr. Katie met our own Dr. Tyler Juhlin. They became a couple during dental school, got engaged in 2023, and were married in 2025. The engagement and marriage, combined with the beautiful Black Hills, is how she ended up at Orchard Meadows Family Dental & Denture Clinic.
Dr. Katie’s area of focus is general dentistry for patients of all ages. Outside of her professional life, she likes to go hiking, travel, and on walks with her dog, Coco.
Dr. Hvezda (pronounced vee-EZ-duh) grew up in Alexandria, Minnesota, and took numerous family vacations to the Black Hills. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences from Minnesota State University, her master’s in biomedical sciences from Midwestern University in Arizona, and her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Midwestern’s School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Hvezda is dedicated to making a positive impact on the oral health and overall well-being of her patients. She focuses on delivering exceptional care to each patient, while building trusting relationships based on mutual respect and understanding. Dr. Hvezda enjoys getting to know each patient and tailoring treatment plans to suit individual preferences and dental goals.
Outside of her love for oral health, Dr. Hvezda enjoys spending time with her husband, Riley, their two children, and their golden retriever. She loves hiking, camping, running, and working out—truly anything the majestic Black Hills has to offer!

What should I expect at my first visit?
Your first visit is a comprehensive exam, not a rushed cleaning. We take the time to look at everything — your teeth, your gums, your bite, and your overall oral health. We use digital X-rays and advanced imaging when needed, and we sit down with you to explain what we're seeing in plain language. There's no pressure to commit to a treatment plan on the spot. We believe the best decisions happen when you feel informed and comfortable.
Do you handle dental emergencies?
Absolutely. Dental pain doesn't follow a schedule, and neither do we. If you have a cracked tooth, a severe toothache, swelling, or any urgent dental issue, call us at 605-501-5817. Our phone rings directly to the doctors, even after hours. If you're already a patient, we know your history, which means we can treat you faster and more safely when it matters most.
Do I really need to come in twice a year if nothing hurts?
Yes, and here's why — most dental problems don't hurt until they've already progressed. A small cavity that's painless today can turn into a root canal six months from now. Early gum disease has no symptoms at all until bone loss begins. When you come in twice a year, we catch those small issues early while they're still simple and affordable to fix. Think of it less as "just a cleaning" and more as protecting your future health, your comfort, and your wallet.
